Use case
Download Every Active Idaho Contractor Registration Statewide
Export all active DOPL General Contractor Registrations in Idaho in one run, with mailing address, county, DBA and issue date, and drop out-of-state firms.
Say you sell builders’ risk insurance or job-management software across Idaho, and your CRM has patchy coverage north of Boise. You want the whole state in one table: every active General Contractor Registration the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) holds, 25,863 of them on 2026-10-14. Then you want to refresh it every month so new registrations land in the CRM before your reps hear about them some other way. Firms that register in Idaho but mail from Washington or Utah are not your territory, so they should stay out.
The manual way, and what it costs
Here the free route is genuinely good, and you should know that before you spend anything. DOPL’s “Search for a Bulk List of Licenses” page at edopl.idaho.gov exports the whole General Contractor Registration roster as one .ods spreadsheet, with no login and no CAPTCHA. It holds 52,966 rows in every status. Filter the Status column to Active, filter the State column to Idaho, and you have the same list this article builds. If you need it once, that is a fine afternoon’s work.
The cost shows up on repeat and at the edges. Every refresh is another click-through and another 52,966-row file to filter and diff against the last one. The 25,863 active rows include 5,981 firms with a mailing address outside Idaho, mostly in Washington (2,008) and Utah (1,126), which you strip by hand each time. And if your market includes the trades, picking the Electrical board instead of a single licence type exports 47,289 rows, of which only 3,327 are Electrical Contractor Licenses; the rest are journeymen and apprentices.
The faster way
Idaho Contractor License Lookup & List Scraper (DOPL) does the same search once and hands back every row at once.
{
"licenseType": "general_contractor",
"status": "Active",
"idahoAddressesOnly": true,
"maxResults": 100000
}
licenseType names the roster you want, General Contractor Registrations, which is also what an
export returns when you leave it empty. idahoAddressesOnly drops the 5,981 out-of-state mailing
addresses, leaving 25,863 minus 5,981, or 19,882 rows by that count. maxResults is the spend cap
for the whole run, and 100000 is its maximum, so nothing that matches is cut off. At $0.004 a row
the run costs about $79.53; leave the box unticked and all 25,863 active registrations cost $103.45.
If you sell to the trades instead, set licenseType to trades for the seven electrical, plumbing
and HVAC contractor types, which held 5,183 active licences and come to $20.73.

For a statewide territory plan, county is the column you group on. The largest counties on
2026-10-14 were Ada with 4,676 active registrations, Canyon with 3,355, Kootenai with 2,903 and
Bonneville with 994, which tells you where to put reps before you open a single record.
license_number is the CRM key, issue_date sorts new firms to the top, and has_discipline flags
the ones DOPL lists with public discipline, worth a look before an underwriter sees the account.
What you’d do with it
Pull the dataset from the Apify API into your CRM, upserting on license_number, and schedule the
same input monthly. Each run refreshes expiry dates on the accounts you already hold, an account
missing from the new export has stopped being Active or now mails from out of state, and the new registrations arrive on their own; 3,596 active ones were first issued in 2026 by mid-October. If you also
want a win-back list, a second input with "statuses": ["Lapsed", "Expired"] exports the firms that
stopped renewing, 25,349 of them on 2026-10-14.
Worth knowing
Contact data is thin. DOPL had a phone for 10.9% and an email for 10.6% of active registrations,
so most of your 19,882 rows will carry a mailing address and nothing to call or email. The address
is a mailing address too: 1,505 active registrations have no county, and idahoAddressesOnly keys
on that mailing state, so an Idaho-based firm using an out-of-state mailing address drops out with
the rest. DOPL’s export has no bond, insurance or classification fields. A statewide General
Contractor run downloads the full roster first, which took about 35 seconds from our workstation on
2026-10-14.
Run it yourself: How to run Idaho Contractor License Lookup & List Scraper (DOPL) walks the whole thing step by step.
If one county is enough, Export Ada County, Idaho Registered General Contractors does the same job for Ada’s 4,676 active firms at a fraction of the cost.
If your territory runs west into Oregon, Oregon Contractor License Lookup & Verify (CCB) covers contractors licensed by Oregon’s Construction Contractors Board.
