Inputs

FieldTypeReqDefaultDescription
mode string no "export" Export: every business in the picked states that matches the filters below (e.g. LLCs formed since a date). Lookup: find the companies you name in `Business names or entity IDs` (KYB / due diligence). Auto: lookup when you give names, export otherwise.
states array no ["AK","AL","CA","CO","CT","DC","FL","GA","HI","IA","ID","IL","IN","KS","KY","LA","MA","MI","MN","MS","MT","NC","ND","NH","NJ","NM","NV","NY","OH","OR","PA","RI","TX","UT","VA","WI","WV","WY"] Secretary of State registries to search, as 2-letter codes. Available: AK, AL, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MS, MT, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV, WY. CAPTCHA on every search (lookup only): AZ, MD, ME, NE, OK, SC, SD, TN, VT, WA. Those are not searched yet: picking one gives a free note. Leave empty for every state available. More states are added as they are built.
queries array no [] Lookup mode: one company name or state entity ID per line. A name matches anywhere in the registered name. Filters below still apply (e.g. only Active).
query string no — Same as the list above, one value. Kept for saved tasks; both are combined if you fill both.
entityTypes array no ["LLC"] Keep only these types: LLC, Corporation, Nonprofit, Limited Partnership, LLP, General Partnership, Cooperative, Trust. Each state's own types are mapped onto this one list; a state's own type code or label also works. A type a state does not register gives a free note for that state.
statuses array no ["Active"] Keep only these statuses. "Active" means in business in every state (Colorado: Good Standing or Exists). Other words match the state's own statuses (e.g. Dissolved, Delinquent); an unknown word gives a free note listing that state's statuses.
formedAfter string no "2026-10-06" Newly formed companies: only entities formed (or registered in the state) on or after this date, YYYY-MM-DD.
formedBefore string no — Only entities formed on or before this date, YYYY-MM-DD.
cities array no — Keep only businesses whose principal office is in one of these cities (where a state has no principal office for an entity, its mailing / service-of-process city). States whose search returns no address (ID, KY, MN, ND, OK, WV; New Mexico publishes none) give a free note instead.
nameKeywords array no — Keep only businesses whose name contains one of these words, e.g. construction, roofing, nail, dental.
minYearsInBusiness integer no — Established businesses: active, formed in this state at least this many years ago (from the state's formation date).
maxYearsInBusiness integer no — Active businesses formed in this state at most this many years ago.
annualReportDueAfter string no — Only states that publish an annual report due date (CT, DC, NM). Other states give a free note.
annualReportDueBefore string no — Businesses about to owe their annual report (CT, DC, NM). Other states give a free note.
naicsCodes array no — 2 to 6 digit NAICS prefixes, e.g. 2381 (foundation and structure contractors), 8121 (personal care). Only states that publish NAICS (CT, MS, TX, WV; Mississippi matches the primary code); others give a free note.
ownedBy array no — Businesses that told the state they are owned by these groups (all of them): woman, minority, veteran, lgbtqi, disability. Only Connecticut (all five) and West Virginia (woman, minority, veteran) publish this; others give a free note.
includeOfficers boolean no false Add officers / principals / authorized representatives where the state publishes them (CT, OR with their business address; KY and TX on request; MN, PA, WV, FL, HI, NM and VA by name and title). Never home addresses. New York rows carry the CEO from the biennial statement whenever it is filed.
maxResults integer no 100 Cap on rows returned per state (bounds cost). Up to 100,000 for a statewide export.
proxyConfiguration object no {"useApifyProxy":false} Optional. Most state registries answer directly. A few portals refuse some data-center IPs (KY, and the US-only ones); if a state answers with a free 'blocked' note, run again with a US proxy.

Pricing

Pay per result (dataset-item) — no charge for empty runs.
Example: 1000 entity records at $0.0015/result ≈ $1.50.

FAQ

Which states are covered?

Twenty-nine. Lookup and export: Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia, plus Florida's newly filed companies (export from the state's daily filing files; Florida lookup coming) and Georgia and New Mexico (lookup, and export by name keyword). Lookup only (the state offers no free statewide list): Idaho, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Utah and Wyoming. All are read live from the state's own registry or open data (Virginia's open data was last refreshed by the state in November 2024; each Virginia answer carries a free note saying so; Illinois is answered from a copy of the state's free daily bulk files, Ohio from a copy of its business search). More states are being added; pick states in States, or leave it empty for all of them.

How do I get newly formed companies?

Mode export, a Formed on or after date (e.g. 30 days ago), and optionally Entity types (LLC), Statuses (Active) and Cities. Schedule it daily with a rolling date for a new-business feed.

How do I look up one company?

Mode lookup and the company name or the state's entity ID in Business names or entity IDs. A name matches anywhere in the registered name; filters such as Statuses still apply. A lookup that finds nothing returns a free no-match notice.

Do all states return the same fields?

The core columns are the same everywhere and null where a state does not publish them. Colorado and DC have no officers; Iowa, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania publish active / current registrations only; Pennsylvania publishes no registered agent; Texas comes from the Comptroller's franchise-tax roll, whose address is the mailing address and whose agent and officers are joined on request; Connecticut adds NAICS, annual report due date, business email and ownership survey flags. A filter a state cannot apply (e.g. NAICS in Colorado, a city in Idaho) returns a free notice for that state instead of being ignored.

Is there a phone number?

Mostly no: the states publish addresses, not business phone numbers. New Hampshire is the exception: its details page carries the phone and email the entity filed (where it filed one), returned for the first 20 matches of a lookup. Connecticut publishes a business email for most active companies and a phone for many registered agents.

What does years in business mean?

Whole years since the state's own formation date, for active entities formed in that state, assuming continuous active status. Entities formed elsewhere show registered_in_state_since instead.

How am I charged?

One event per business entity returned. Notices are free.
