Providence RI Registered Contractors List with Phone Numbers
Valid Rhode Island CRLB residential/commercial contractor registrations in Providence, with phone, email, address, expiry and complaints.
Say you’re the outside rep for a building-supply yard that has just opened a Providence branch, and you want every active contractor in the city on a call sheet before the spring season. The list has to be contractors who are actually registered with the state, since an unregistered one can’t legally take the jobs you want to supply. You need a phone number for each, and an email for the follow-up. Rhode Island’s Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board (CRLB) holds that registry. It has no “download everyone in Providence” button.
The manual way, and what it costs
The board’s search form takes a registration number, a contractor type, a company name or a contractor’s name. It has no city field. Its results show names, registration types, status and expiry, with no phone, email or street address and no export. The contact details, cities included, are in the quarterly contractor lists the board posts as Excel files. Each file covers only the applications approved that quarter, and the column names change from one file to the next. So the free route starts from the spreadsheets: filter each one to Providence, merge them, then search every registration number to check it is still valid. For checking two or three contractors before a job, the free search is the right tool. For a call sheet of a hundred-plus companies, it’s an afternoon of VLOOKUPs.
The faster way
Rhode Island Contractor Registration Lookup & List Scraper does the same search once and hands back every row at once.

VALID drops lapsed registrations, which are two thirds of everything the board has on file. residential-commercial is the largest registration type (5,104 valid statewide): contractors who take both home and commercial work, so the ones most likely to buy from a yard. Providence keeps the list to the branch’s own city. On the 2026-10-27 data this returns 124 registrations, every one with a phone and an email, for about $0.50.

| Field | Example value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
listing_id | GC-3036 | CRLB registration number (e.g. GC-3036) |
name | GREENWICH BAY HOMES LLC | Company name, or the contractor’s own name when no company is registered |
category | RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL | Registration type: RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL, RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL, COMMERCIAL ROOFER, … |
extras.status | — | VALID or INVALID |
extras.expires | — | Registration expiry date |
extras.complaints | — | Complaints on file with the board |
phone and email fill the call sheet, and extras.contractor_names tells you who to ask for. postal_code lets you split the list by territory: 02909 (37 registrations), 02908 (26) and 02907 (19) are the biggest clusters. The complaint and violation counts are worth a glance before you extend credit: 5 of the 124 have a complaint on file and 7 have a violation.
What you’d do with it
Export the dataset as CSV and import it into the CRM with listing_id as the external ID. A rerun next quarter then updates the same records, and the companies a new quarterly list adds come in as new rows. Sort by postal_code to build call days, and put extras.expires in a column, because a contractor coming up for renewal is a reason to call.
Worth knowing
Phone, email and address exist only for registrations in one of the board’s quarterly lists: 27.1% of valid registrations statewide on 2026-10-27. Since a city comes from the same lists, a city filter returns only those rows, so this list has every contact field filled but leaves out Providence contractors the lists haven’t covered yet. Drop the city filter and you get all valid residential/commercial registrations statewide, most of them with no contact details. Status between refreshes is derived from each row’s expiry date. The data is a stored copy, dated in the run log, not a live search.
Run it yourself: How to run Rhode Island Contractor Registration Lookup & List Scraper walks the whole thing step by step.
To check specific contractors rather than build a list, put their registration numbers in queries on the same actor. The guide above shows how. For contractors based across the state line, Massachusetts Construction License Lookup covers Massachusetts.
