Use case
Export Every Active HVAC Contractor in TX, OH, WV, ID and DE
Every active HVAC contractor licence from five state boards (27,635 on 2026-10-15), with the contact fields each board publishes.
Say you sell scheduling software to HVAC shops, and next quarter’s territory covers Texas, Ohio, West Virginia, Idaho and Delaware. You need every licensed HVAC contractor in those states as one list, and you want to re-pull it each month to spot the ones newly licensed, because a new shop is still choosing its tools.
The manual way, and what it costs
Each board can be done by hand, and two of them are easy. Texas and Delaware both publish open
data you can filter and download yourself, if you know the dataset and the licence type names
(A/C Contractor in Texas, Master HVACR in Delaware) and remember to drop expired licences.
Ohio builds a roster CSV for free through a form; clear the state dropdown first, or it drops every
licence held from out of state.
The other two are where it stops being reasonable. West Virginia’s search can pick HVAC from its classification menu, but it has no export, so you would page through 1,637 results and copy rows. Idaho exports one spreadsheet per licence type, and HVAC has three. If you only need one state once, the board’s own site is fine. Five states every month is a day of work each time.
The faster way
HVAC Contractor Directory & Leads (State License Boards) does the same search once and hands back every row at once.
{
"maxResults": 100000
}
No states and no filters means all five boards. maxResults caps each state, so 100000 takes every
active licence: 27,635 on 2026-10-15, which costs $55.27 at $0.002 per row. To try it first, leave
maxResults at its default of 100 and you get 100 rows from each state for $1.00.

| Field | Example value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
state | OH | Licensing state: TX, OH, WV, ID or DE |
board | OCILB | Licensing board: TDLR, OCILB, WVCLB, DOPL or DPR |
business_name | DOOLEY HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING | Licensed company, or the holder’s name where the board lists a person |
person_name | BRIAN P DOOLEY | Licensed individual or qualifying party, when published |
phone | (614) 278-9944 | Business phone, when the board publishes one |
address | 2010 Zettler Rd | Street or mailing address (OH, WV, ID) |
For the monthly comparison, the column that matters is license_number together with state:
the number is unique within each state, so a licence present this month and absent last month is
a new one. issue_date helps where the board publishes it (Ohio, Idaho, Delaware). For outreach,
phone decides which states you can call: 1,636 of 1,637 West Virginia rows and 3,125 of 4,850
Ohio rows carry one, while Texas and Delaware publish none.
What you’d do with it
Export the dataset as CSV, key it on state plus licence number, and keep last month’s file. A spreadsheet lookup between the two shows the new licences, which go to your sales queue with the phone and address where the board gave one. The Texas rows, which have county but no address, can be matched by company name against a list you already buy.
Worth knowing
Five states only. Contact fields are whatever each board publishes, and Texas publishes no address or phone for A/C Contractors. Texas and Delaware licences are held by people, so the company column is often a person’s name there. Ohio licenses commercial trade contractors only. Addresses are as filed and can be PO boxes or out-of-state offices.
Run it yourself: How to run HVAC Contractor Directory & Leads (State License Boards) walks the whole thing step by step.
For a single state with every trade rather than HVAC alone, the West Virginia Contractor License Lookup & Leads Scraper returns any WVCLB classification, and the Texas Contractor & Trade License Lookup & Export covers electricians and the other TDLR trades.
